Terry Fox Run

terryfoxrun2017 (1)

Our annual Terry Fox Run was held on Thursday, September 28th. A big thank you to Ms. Kayra for organizing this year. As well, a thank you to all of the volunteers who came out to support the run. We had a wonderful turnout. Thank you also to all of the families who generously donated to the Terry Fox Foundation. Together we raised $1004.95 to help support cancer research. This far exceeded previous year’s donations. What a fantastic success!

Farewell

summertime-032Dear Families,

As our year abruptly came to a halt, we were unable to say our proper farewells. This week we are having a PAC Social, Staff Dinner and Family Barbeque in Gray’s Park to bring closure to our year together. No one could have anticipated the year end that we’ve had and I have greatly appreciated the generosity of our community during this challenging time. Thanks to everyone for supporting our staff and everything that they do for your children. The McBride Community is an amazing place to work and learn in!

On a personal note, I’d like to thank everyone for welcoming me so warmly into your community and steadfastly supporting my leadership of the annex. I have had the pleasure to work with an outstanding staff and be supported by many phenomenal parents who continually give your time and energy to our school. As I’ve said many times, we are like a little country school in the middle of the city. What a gift it has been to work and learn here. It has been a great privilege to be part of your community. I will miss everyone here as I move to Lord Roberts Elementary in September.

I wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxing summer filled with laughter and good times with family and friends.

All the best to you,

James Chamberlain
Vice-Principal

No School on Monday

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Re: Job Action on Monday May 26th

Due to job action by teachers on Monday there will be no staff in the school aside from Mr. Chamberlain. Therefore, parents are strongly encouraged to make alternate arrangements for their children on Monday as Mr. Chamberlain will not be providing direct instruction to students on that day. He will only be working in a supervising capacity on that day. The Start Smart Preschool and Little Mountain Out of School Care will also be closed on Monday. The front doors of the school will be unlocked from 8:30 to 3:30 on Monday.

School will resume as normal on Tuesday, May 27th. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding with this situation.

Regards,

James Chamberlain
Vice-Principal

Day of Pink Play

logoGrade 2 and 3 students in our Kids Helping Kids club wrote a script and performed a play to recognize the original origins for the Day of Pink on February 26th. This was a culmination of our social justice teaching during the month of February about family diversity and anti-homophobia education.
